Discussion Canister > Let's save a life.

Alright, so there hasn't been a post for a couple days, but I notice that things have been quiet here. There's no need for that people! Just because there has been endless blathering on other things doesn't mean we should shirk it! Let's talk about something no one has - the quiet baby savings antics of 69. Takers?

Pass. If no one's talking...that means nothing to talk about.

Oooh ooh! I agree. I was waiting for someone to bring it up, but I think it's episode 68 with the cart you're talking about, not 69. 69-70 were rowing, not carts.

Cart episode. Loved it. Liked the writing, the bits everyhing. Glad someone else appreciated it too.

Why would you go to the trouble to say that there's nothign to talk about and then just leave it at that? Dont get it. I liked 70-69 about rowing. I cant believe that they broke the boat! Crazy!

Nope, didn't like more stories about rowing. If you want to be simple with a post, why write an epic?

I know. I thought after all my preaching, he'd just give it up, but nope, stuck on the same type of stories. I think we should e-mail him, obeygiant!

Still around, eh, Marvel? I would have thought you would have left after that drubbing you got. As for emailing, go ahead, but I think the author probably gets enough opinions as it is. And BTW, the last two posts, contrary to your opinion, were not that bad.

It is 68 that is the correct post for the baby snatching/rescuing piece. That is what we're still talking about, right?

Yes, still here, I see that this site and readers need my help.
September 29, 2006 | Unregistered Commentermarvell67
Or your helping yourself! I liked the last two ones short, and too the point.

Ok, I e-mailed the LA. He said: "most likely no more stories about rowing" and he said that "he appreciated our comments, but some people did like rowing stories". After e-mailing him, I guess I can kind of see why he put them in. Anyhow, just thought you'd want to know.

Hey, I like the rowing stories. Don't let everyone think that they're bad, when they're really not!

I just think its a genre that few people appreciate or like. Nautical stories are tricky. I mean, I liked "A Year before the mast" by Dana, but most people have never heard of that book, so that tells you a lot.

Haven't been around for awhile, but I guess some things never change. I just don't get why people have to complain about certain things they don't like, and others like to debate about it. Let it go. Some people like crew stories, others don't. That's my take.

Human nature. That's the answer. Sides, I like rowing stories. No big deal here.

"The slightly-slanted cracked black asphalt, full of lumps and crabgrass was spattered with blood colored rusty flakes."

First of all, its episode 68.

Second of all, damn that's some good description, so quit your complaining people!

Very true. I also like that part where the slap is like a right hook. I was dying laughing at that point!
October 3, 2006 | Unregistered Commenterirish308
Xactly. That's what I'm talking about, and I think what we were getting at in the beginning here. Solid description. The piece is full of it. I found it to be great, but I was unclear as to why the woman slapped him.

"The mother was half swallowed by the car as she shoved plastic sacks of coco-crisps into its trunk. With her head jammed into the rear of the car, she could hear only the subtle, sublime rustle of bagged goods."

All I could do to this was shake my head and laugh. I think the La must have shopped at my supermarket. Every day, I see someone engorged and distracted as they put their food away. He really captured this aspect of life for me. I like it!

He got slapped because the woman had no idea what was going on. It was tongue in cheek; but also an example of how life is absurd, and bad things sometimes happen to people who do good things.
